about us

MISSION
The mission of the Goochland Free Clinic & Family Services is to provide health care and basic human services to Goochland residents who are in need of assistance.
Goochland Free Clinic & Family Services is a private, non-profit corporation supported by individuals, churches, corporations, grants, and businesses who share its vision. Without the financial support of the community and the time of the volunteers, we would not exist.
HISTORY
Goochland Free Clinic & Family Services was formed in October 2007 when Goochland Fellowship & Family Service merged with the Free Clinic of Goochland. The merger resulted from the fact that both organizations were serving the same group of clients- low income and uninsured Goochland residents. Goochland Fellowship & Family Service was founded in 1952 by a small group of women to provide social services to those not eligible for state or federal help.
In 1998, a small group of concerned parishioners from St. Mary’s Episcopal Church met to discuss the possibility of starting a free clinic in Goochland County. After months of hard work and organization, the Free Clinic of Goochland opened its doors in September 2000. The Free Clinic is a direct response to the health care crisis which exists for many who are not offered or cannot afford health insurance. People without insurance or the financial means to pay for health care delay or postpone medical and dental treatment which might result in pain, avoidable complications or premature death.
